Events UK 2009

There have been many “Tudor” events taking place throughout 2009 to celebrate the 500 year anniversary of Henry VIII’s accession to the throne. Obviously most of them are over now but there are still a couple running:-

  • Henry VIII: Dressed to Kill – An exhibition of Henry VIII’s armour at the Tower of London, until January 2010
  • Henry VIII Head and Hearts, Hampton Court Palace – Until 28th January 2010

Hever Castle, a castle that was once the family home of Anne Boleyn and was later owned by Anne of Cleves, is holding various Christmas and Winter events:-

Hever Castle Christmas and Winter Wonderland

Hever Castle, 3rd – 20th December

Hever Castle website says:

“A wonderful magical Christmas at Hever Castle with sparkling Christmas trees, Father Christmas, snow dusted grotto, ‘The Silver Skates’ storytelling, ice maze, carols, traditional brass bands, Christmas donkey rides, festive shopping and fairytale lighting when the castle opens it’s doors this Christmas.

Between the 3rd and 20th December (Thursday-Sunday) visitors will see the castle traditionally decorated with twinkling Christmas trees, beautiful decorations and seasonal garlands adorning the rooms. The crackling of the log fire as it burns in the Dining Hall and the sound of seasonal music will captivate the spirit of Christmas.

As dusk falls the castle and gardens will sparkle with thousands fairy lights and enchanting colours creating a winter wonderland for the start of the festive season.

Book from 7th September for Santa Claus, ‘The Silver Skates’ Story in the castle and Christmas Parties.”

See Hever Castle Christmas page for details.

Hever Castle Winter Walks

Hever Castle, 28th and 29th December 2009

Hever Castle website says:

“Wrap up and blow away the cobwebs, walk off the Christmas pudding and follow the Winter Trail in the gardens. For the more energetic take a bracing walk round the lake and place New Year’s wishes on the Wishing Tree. Warm up in the Moat Restaurant where hot seasonal meals, sandwiches and drinks will be served.”
