Elizabeth I is buried at Westminster Abbey. However, her father Henry VIII is buried in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle and her mother Anne Boleyn, who was executed and buried as a traitor, is buried under the floor of the Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula at the Tower of London.
Thanks was very helpful for that one Where was she buried Detail :> :> :> :> :> 🙂 :0
Elizabeth is buried in the same tomb as her sister, Queen Mary, in Westminster Abbey. however In Mary’s Will, Mary asked to be buried with her Mother, Catherine of Aragon. I have always wondered why her final wishes were ignored in this way. Suggestions?
I have always also found it somewhat ironic that these two half sisters who were such enemies in life, should be destined to spend eternity resting together in the same tomb!!!
Thanks for the info, but I already knew it was Westminister Abbey. I kind of wanted to know what the tomb in which Queen Elizabeth and Mary were buried in says. In the photographs that I have found, its a little blurry. It would be great if you could post what it says.
The inscription says:
“Consorts both in throne and grave, here we rest two sisters, Elizabeth and Mary, in hope of our resurrection”
So Queen Elizabeth I is buried with her sister Mary I?
Yes, that’s right.
Why was Elizabeth I buried with her half sister, Mary I?
what year was she burried
