what decor did the royalty use at christmas time

I've written an article on the Tudor Christmas at http://www.theanneboleynfiles.com/resources/tudor-life/tudor-christmas/, which you may find helpful. I would think that royal palaces would be decorated in the same way as normal people's homes, but on a grander scale. Tudor people would decorate their homes on Christmas Eve by bringing in evergreens like holly, ivy, mistletoe, yew, box and laurel.

  1. Very little. Christmas was a religious holiday in Tudor times, like a saint’s day. The big holiday was New Year’s Day, when gifts were given. The biggest holiday was the night 12 days after Christmas, immortalized in Shakespeare’s play, Twelfh Night, which was presented to Elizabeth on the Twelfth Night.
