Elizabeth was released from the Tower of London on the 19th May 1554 and taken to Woodstock where she was kept under house arrest for just under a year. In April 1555 she was summoned to court to attend Mary I who was, allegedly pregnant. After spending a few months with Mary, she was finally given permission to leave court for Hatfield, her own estate, on the 18th March 1555.
