Edward VI is Crowned King – 20 February 1547

On the 20th February 1547, just under a month after the death of his father, Henry VIII, nine year old Edward was crowned King Edward VI.

He looks even younger underneath all that clothing. Like a mini me version of Henry.
I mentioned this on another site, but this portrait in particular bears such a striking resemblance to his mother’s 1537 Holbein portrait! Edward definitely resembled his Mum.
