Just finished reading ‘Virgin and The Crab’ and found it very informative. I knew nothing of John Dee before this – what a fascinating character and so well portrayed. However I think that Mary I was shown in a very one dimensional manner without any redeeming features at all, I know that she does not have a very good image, but I do not believe that she was all bad. I am reading Linda Porter’s biography of Mary at the moment and am getting a much more balanced view of this complex woman.
